Season in Focus .... Winter
Winter in Greater Manchester. Heavy snow falls carpet the landscape for several weeks at a time and day time temperatures hover just above freezing, dropping as low as minus 10 Celsius at night. These conditions make it very difficult for wildlife to survive and add to the pressures they are already facing. Many species of mammal will have gone into hibernation.

On Saturday the 29th March 2014 Greater Manchester Local Record Centre (GMLRC) held its first wildlife recording conference at The Manchester Museum. It was a rare meeting of around 110 local recorders ranging from absolute beginners to masters in their field. Our brief to the speakers was to inform and enthuse the local recording community. Here is an overview of their presentations, download links and a further opportunity to share your views and keep the conversations going.
